Use Pantaray with your own API key
Connect Pantaray directly to OpenAI, Anthropic, or Fireworks AI with a key from that provider.
With an API key, Pantaray talks to the provider straight from this Mac. You pay that provider directly, and you do not need an account with us.
Get a key
Pantaray works with three providers. Create a key in the provider’s own console:

Copy the key when it is shown. Providers only display it once.
Set it up in Pantaray
- Open Settings → AI connection.
- Under Connect with, choose API key.
- Pick your provider: OpenAI, Anthropic, or Fireworks AI.
- Fill in Model (see below) and press Save model.
- Paste the key into API key and press Save.
Current route at the top of the section should now show API key, with your provider and model beside it.
Choosing a model
Model is a text box. Click it and Pantaray suggests ids it knows about; you can also type any model your provider accepts.

Pantaray uses the one model you set for everything it does, so pick a capable one. An Action needs a model that can use tools and return structured answers, and reading screenshots or images needs one that accepts images.
If you type an id the provider does not recognise, the request fails saying the model was not found. Check the spelling against your provider’s documentation.
Replacing or removing a key
The key is encrypted and stored on this Mac. Pantaray shows only Saved on this Mac, and there is no way to read it back.
- Replace lets you paste a new key over the old one.
- Remove deletes it. Without a key, Actions stop with a message asking you to set up a connection.
Changing the key stops any Action that is running. Continue the conversation in your next message.
