Pantaray works inside folders you register. Anything it edits, and any command it runs, happens
there.

## Register a folder

Open **Workspace** from the top of the Pantaray window. There you can:

- Create a **project** and add the folders that belong to it.
- Group projects under an **organization**.
- See **Unassigned folders**, folders Pantaray knows about that are not part of a project yet, and
  put them where they belong.

that scope.*

## Reading versus changing

The two are controlled separately, in **Settings → Action permissions** under **Read access**:

| Setting | What Pantaray may read |
| --- | --- |
| **Workspace only** | Only workspace folders and the default work area |
| **Full local filesystem** | Files anywhere on this Mac |

Changing files and running commands is always limited to your workspace folders and the default
work area, whichever read setting you choose. Widening reading leaves writing where it is.

If you are unsure, start with **Workspace only** and add folders as you need them.

## Why a folder might be out of reach

If an Action says it cannot reach a file, the usual reason is that the folder is not in a project.
Open **Workspace**, add it, and try again.

Keep folders you do not want touched out of your workspace. That is the boundary Pantaray works
inside.
