You can turn recording off entirely, keep specific apps and sites out, or narrow it down to only
the ones you name.

## Turn recording off

Open **Settings → Computer activity recording** and switch it **Off**. The heading changes from
**Active** to **Paused**.

While it is off:

- Nothing new is recorded, and nothing new is sent to the AI from your activity.
- Suggestions stop. Pantaray says so in the same place: *Suggestions are paused too*.
- Your history, Pantaray's memory, and your settings stay exactly as they are.
- Whatever was already recorded is still deleted after 48 hours.

Switch it back on whenever you like.

## Exclude specific apps or websites

Open **Settings → Recorded apps and websites**, then press **Change**. There are two lists, one for
apps and one for websites, and each has two modes.

### Apps

| Mode | Effect |
| --- | --- |
| **Exclude these apps** | Everything is recorded except the apps you list |
| **Include only these apps** | Only the apps you list are recorded |

Press **+ Add app** to choose from the apps installed on this Mac.

If you switch to **Include only these apps** and add nothing, nothing is recorded at all. Pantaray
says so: *No apps added, so nothing is recorded.*

### Websites

| Mode | Effect |
| --- | --- |
| **Exclude these websites** | Chrome and Safari pages are recorded except the domains you list |
| **Include only these websites** | Only the domains you list are recorded |

Press **+ Add website** and type a domain, such as `example.com`.

Press **Continue** to save. Recording pauses while you edit and starts again when you are done.

Password managers, and sign-in and payment pages, are excluded whatever these lists say. You do not
need to add them, and you cannot remove that protection. Chrome Incognito windows are excluded from
page contents and addresses, and their window titles can still be recorded. Exclude Chrome as an
app to stop that too.

## Block `.env` files in your editor

Set **Settings → IDE File Rules → Environment files (.env\*)** to **Block** and Pantaray does not
record the contents of `.env` files, apart from ones with `.example` in the name. It applies to
Cursor and Visual Studio Code.

## Delete what has been recorded

The recording deletes itself after 48 hours. Your history and Pantaray's memory stay until you
delete them, so waiting clears the recording alone.

To remove everything Pantaray keeps, quit it and then:

1. Delete its folder inside `~/Library/Application Support`.
2. Delete its folder in `~/Library/Logs`, a separate place that the first deletion leaves behind.
3. Open **Keychain Access**, search for Pantaray, and delete the entries it used to encrypt what it
   stored. Once the folders are gone these unlock nothing, and they are left behind.

This cannot be undone.

## Before you share your screen

Pantaray records the text on screen, so a meeting where you are screen-sharing is recorded like
anything else. Switch recording off first if that matters, and back on afterwards.
